This is the motor compartment of my friends boat. Twin 500's putting out over 1000hp. It is a 34 foot Cheetah Hustler, who comes up with a name like that??? Haha. Unfortunately didn't get to go for a ride yet because he was too drunk by the time we got out, he had already tied up to the wall. He did start it up for us though, thing is VERY loud, haha.
I was on a 28 foot Powerquest with just a puny single 502. Which is my cousins boat, he recently had it rebuilt and had a more aggressive cam put in, along with port/polishing work and had it dyno tuned. It ran great, took it from Grand Haven to South Haven last weekend and Grand Haven to Muskegon this past weekend (Lake Michigan).
Any of you opponauts get out on the lake? (I know Turbeaux does)

Those twins look fun. I go jetskiing at a local lake sometimes... 215hp supercharged SeaDoo water crotch rocket thingie.

I've never had the chance to get on a supercharged sit-down jetski. I am more of stand-up jetski guy myself. I've ridden everything from a 440 to an 800 as far as stand ups go, from both Kawi and Yamaha. Man, are they fun.

How about a video of these monsters at work?

Sweet. Never ridden a standup... hope to eventually. They look like a shit ton of fun.

Not in many years. But, very fond memories of Friday night parties in the marina and Saturday spent catching Salmon. Never got seasick but it was funny to watch the one's who did.

Hopefully I'll get a ride on it soon + video.
There was another guy out there that one of our friends knew on a 30-something foot Cigarette with twins on it, we we're going about 60-65 mph on the Powerquest and he passed us going in excess of 100 mph.

They are a LOT of fun. You may never want to go back to sitdowns afterwards, haha.
Especially if you ride a powerful one. Something like an 800 SXR, or a newer Yamaha Superjet.

Haha yeah, I've gotten seasick, only once when I was a kid. Thankfully, it hasn't happened again, because it was one of the most miserable feelings ever.

My brother lives on Spring Lake, and has a place on Elk Lake, just down the channel from Torch. He has a Baker 540 stroked 502 in a 28 Saber Offshore, from Coopersville MI. Solid solid big water boat, not super fast at about 75 or so.
I have a '98 951 2 stroke Sea Doo, ports cleaned up with reeds, radared at a strong 70 mph, with a midrange punch you can barely hold onto. I also bought a '87 JS550 from Team Butch, built it up to twin 38 mikunis and about 210 compression with an aluminum flywheel. That little boat smokes. I still have it.
I live in the Marne/GR area. Needless to say, I spend lots of time on the water.
Is your friends boat a Hustler Cheetah? Because Hustler is a great hull.

Haha, that 550 sounds AWESOME. I have not had a chance to ride on of those turned-up as much as that! Always wanted to though. I used to race jetski's, started with racing a twin-carb 750 SXI, eventually moved to 800 SXR's. I've ridden some scary fast ones of those.
951's are nice motors too! I've known quite a few people to swap those into standups and kill it at the races.
I live in GR myself, work in the Walker area, I've been to Marne area a few times.
My cousin and I tend to go to GH almost every weekend in the summer for boating and/or jetskiing.
That Baker sounds pretty awesome, same motor as my cousins boat, however his isn't stroked. He needs to re-prop and is hoping to hit 70mph on it.

Hustlers are serious. A friend posted a video from his boat of one blowing their doors off yesterday. I just want a boat in general.

Yeah I want one too. But I think I am going to go right for a cruiser. I don't know how many times I'd be able to stand filling up 100-200 gallons of Marine gas.

Oh definitely. My friend has been using his boss's 22ft Chaparral and we've had a blast on it but we need our own. #boatlife

The Poker run in Oshkosh, WI last week. I was at the Dockside bar. moored out back was a Cigarette boat of 47'. Powering it were TWO 850 cubic inch Mercury engines each with TWIN superchargers mounted up top. I've never... I couldn't... No SR20 because flabberghasted.

Yeah, I'm thinking I want something in the 24 - 27ft range, to keep in the in-out service of a Marina, that way I won't even need to buy a truck! Haha.

Haha, yeah, there are some insane cigarette's tooling around Grand Haven too. The one I saw texted one of the guys I was on the boat with to inform us he passed us doing over 100 mph.

My brother in law has a Malibu wakeboarding boat, but we tend to stick to the inland lakes around us. His boat just isnt quite big enough for lake Michigan
![]() 06/30/2014 at 23:01 |

Yeah its a reasonable size. We had 6 people on that one last time and it was doable.

Yeah I know how that is, I've been on smaller boats on lake Michigan and it is not kind to your back, lol.
